Study Skills tutoring can include many different aspects of learning, depending on the student's individual needs and goals.

Some students need help establishing and maintaining time management skills and the ability to prioritize and track educational assignments and projects.  Based on assessment of needs, a study skills program might also include outlining, note-taking, and making graphic organizers, preparing for tests in a specific subject, internet research, and / or basic computer skills.

Assistance can be very effective when preparing for a skills assessment test, such as the GED or SAT,  an employment related test. or completing a correspondence course.

Some of our students have trouble understanding, remembering, and accessing information presented in class, and will benefit from exercises designed to improve auditory processing skills.

Sometimes parents would like their children to get more from their education than  a standard classroom curriculum might provide.  For these students we offer enrichment activities in areas of interest to the students or parents.

Some students just need extra help understanding and keeping up with text books, class work and homework.  In other cases a student's difficulty in school may be caused by comprehension issues, either from a specific learning challenge or from concepts insufficiently mastered in previous school years.

English as a Second Language:
For families from other countries living and working in Hawaii, language barriers can be a challenge.  We can assist children in understanding and keeping up with classwork in English, or adults in dealing with English for business, social purposes, and daily life.
